YSR Trade Union Congress will actively take part in organising workforce and increase its membership to brace up with other major Trade Union bodies while keeping up the ideals of YSR.
“We will try to enroll 85,000 members in organised sector comprising Central Government PSUs and 2.5 lakh unorganised sector,” the party TU leader Janak Prasad told reporters here on Monday.
The TU body will also try to contest the election in Singareni Collieries elections besides strengthening its position in PSUs like, ECIL, BHEL, SCCL and other units, he said.
When N Chandrababu Naidu who behaved as World Bank agent and supported MNCs at the cost of the workers’ interests, various TU bodies approached YSR who gave a new lease of life to the movement, he said.
YSR was responsible for setting up Rs 500-crore corpus fund for construction workers welfare by pooling 1 per cent of the construction cost, he said adding that he was also responsible in generating employment with the setting up of 1200 MW power plant and getting clearance to 14 new coal mines.
