The secular credential s of TDP came under heavy fire from YSR Congress Party which has questioned the sanctity of its moral policing and attempts to whip up religious, caste and other sensitive issues.
“YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has visited Tirumala for over 15 times by now and objections, if any, should have been raised by the concerned officials and not TDP,” party spokesperson Jupudi Prabhakar Rao told reporters here on Wednesday.
Chandrababu Naidu is so scared of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, that anything and everything he does is been seen through a magnifying glass. Only a few days back Naidu said that Jagan was an atheist and when Jagan visits the temple, he backtracked only to say he did not file a declaration.
It is not for the TDP leader to judge who should file a declaration and why as TTD has official machinery and the State Government monitors the functioning of the temple. Should Chandrababu Naidu and his followers raise the issue they will attract the penal provisions of the Representation of People Act 1951, he said.
“When YSR was chief minister, he participated in the religious ceremonies of the Lord Balaji and when his son Jagan visits the temple TDP raising the issue is highly objectionable. There was delay during his darshan as the gate number 17 was closed and the darshan took 1.45 hours while it would have been done in a jiffy to Ambanis and other MPs,” he said.
TDP’s criticism on Jagan’s temple visit is an assault on the secular fabric of our country. We have the liberty to pray at any place of worship whether it is a temple, church or a dargah.
During Odarpu yatra, Jagan has visited every temple, church and darga en route and Naidu and his cronies have not right to call themselves secular if they say that the rights of admission are reserved at Tirumala, he said.
Chandrababu Naidu is desperately trying to politicise every moment of Jagan. First he started the caste issue next came the question of religion and now the declaration issue. Ironically only a few days back the TDP leader said that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy comes to Tirupati but never visits the temple. The double speak of Naidu is known to all and people have given their verdict on earlier occasions and will repeat the same in the ensuing by-elections, he said.
Meanwhile, at a separate press conference, the party leader Chavireddy Bhaskar Reddy also came down heavily on TDP for trying to politicising Jagan’s temple visit at Tirumala.
