Hyderabad, August 9: YSRCP has asked the TDP to spell out its stand on land allotments in wake of N Chandrababu Naidu taking up padayatra opposing VANPIC (Vadarevu And Nizampattanam Industrial Corridor) project.

“TDP should give a declaration about its policy on land allotments for industrial and port area development as Chandrababu Naidu, who was very vociferous in giving coastal land for development of ports, is now undertaking a padayatra opposing VANPIC land,” party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma told reporters here on Thursday.

Chandrababu Naidu during his 9- year term has brought out a 20-20 vision document and has privatised Kakinada Port. He has allotted land worth Rs 1, 60,000 crores, most of it in prime locations of the city and its peripheries, favouring IMG, Rahejas besides 153 IT companies. TDP also signed agreements to allot 924 acres for private ports, she said.

Though YSR continued the same land allotment policy, he had a vision of balanced regional development. Thus he allotted land to industries in backward areas, she said.

Land allotments for industrial development has been order of the day with Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka government’s vying to give more sops to attract entrepreneurs and Corporate Houses to improve the growth rate, she said.

Chandrababu Naidu’s padayatra, opposing VNAPIC project is a political gimmick as he is known for his double standards He speaks in one accent while in power and tells exactly the opposite when he is out of power. While Naidu has allotted large extent of land in the heart of the city for IT and other companies and encouraged privatisation of ports, it is ridiculous for him to take up padayatra against VANPIC land allotment, she said.

“At least now, Chandrababu Naidu should tell his Party’s stand on land allotments for infrastructure development and be categorical about the land he has allotted earlier. He should also spell out what the TDP’s outlook will be in the days to come on the land allotments to SEZs and other development activity,” she said.

TDP, during its term has given land in various modes from 100 year lease to heavy concessions and followed the liberalisation policy. Now since the Party is out of power, it is speaking in a totally different tone, she said.
