Jan 22, 2013: YSR Congress-affiliated YSR TUC won the elections held to the Government-recognized
workers’ union in the Nutrine Confectionery Company Limited in Chittoor on Monday.
Out of the total number of 487
workers, 486 workers exercised their voting rights in the elections. While the
YSR TUC-sponsored Union Panel polled 277 votes, INTUC polled 186 votes fetching
the former a majority of 91 votes. Two votes
were declared invalid.
TDP-affiliated Telugu Nadu Trade
Union Congress,
which ruled roost along with INTUC for decades in the company, was relegated to
the third position with 21 votes. This is the first victory to the YSR TUC in the
trade union elections in 2013.
