YSR Congress appeals for release of Indian couple
03 Dec 2012 5:46 PM

Hyderabad, Dec 3, 2012:
YSR Congress Party’s NRI wing has described as unfortunate the arrest of the
Indian couple Mr. Chandrasekhar and his wife Anupama by Norwegian police and
their being tried by the Norwegian court for over disciplining their son.
In a statement issued
here on Monday, the Party’s NRI wing convener Venkat Medapati has appealed to
the Norwegian authorities and the judges who have conducted the trial to pardon
the Indian couple for their inadvertent mistake and release them.
“Their two children,
aged 7 years and 2 years respectively, will become orphans if the couple are
imprisoned and entangled in a protracted legal battle,” he said, requesting the
judge of the Norwegian court to consider the issue on humanitarian grounds and
release the couple so that they can go back to India to take care of their children.
The Norwegian court is
scheduled to deliver its order on Tuesday.
