YS Jagan recalls rapid growth during YSR's rule in Vizag

Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy addressed a massive public meeting at Kancharapalem in Visakhapatnam, as part of his mass outreach programme, Praja Sankalpa Yatra today.

YS Jagan began his address recalling the rapid growth in the district during the rule of late Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR). "In Vizag, the poor have been provided with houses, the unemployed were given job oppurtunities and several IT companies were established thanks to the rule of Dr YSR. The trajectory of the district's growth has been reversed in the past four years of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu," he said.

The YSRCP Chief said that in Rajanna Rajyam, an advanced underground drainage system worth Rs 1,500 crore was set up in the city, in addition to a rapid transport system. Within six months, the Kancharapalem-Pendurthi road was built by Dr YSR, he added. Saying that he was proud that 35,000 houses were built during Dr YSR's regime, he remarked that the current government did not build a single house in the district.

"When Vizag Steel was in losses, Dr YSR saved the organization with the Centre's support. Currently, Vizag Steel is running in double the profits, thanks to the efforts of Dr YSR. Organizations like NTPC, HPCL were expanded in Rajanna Rajyam. BHP was closed due to losses, but it was merged with BHEL, saving hundreds of employees from losing their jobs, while the Vizag shipyard was saved by bringing it under the purview of the Defense Ministry. Dr YSR was instrumental in building the pharma city, IT corridor, SEZ and other industries in Vizag, providing thousands of jobs to the youth of the state ," he observed.
