YS Jagan Meets Kalinga Samithi Members

Srikakulam: The Kalingaseema Seva Samithi members met YSRCP chief and leader of the opposition in Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who is traversing the district of Srikakulam as part of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra walkathon.

YS Jagan was camping at Krishnapuram when the local members of the Kalinga Samithi, Hanumanthu, KrishnaRao, Chinthada rama rao, K venugopa and others met him and shared their problems with him

The Kalingas are a downtrodden caste who are mostly temple priests and cultivators, found mainly in Srikakulam and the districts of Ganjam and Visakhapatnam.

They told him that though they constituted a large part of the population and were in the first in rank in the district with regards to the voting population, many of them were migrating to other places in search of livelihood. They requested him to consider them as a minority group and provide nominated positions in social and political posts to eligible people from their community. This would at least prevent the population from migrating to an extent, they said . YS Jagan responded positively and assured them that he would do the best he can for their community.
