Vijayamma leads 'power protest' in Vempally

Pulivendula, Aug 29, 2012: YSRCP honourary president and Pulivendula MLA Smt. Y.S.Vijayamma today led a dharna at the Vempally electric sub-station in Pulivendula Mandal of Kadapa district protesting against the government’s failure to tackle the power crisis in the state.

The dharna was held as part of the three day protest being observed by the YSRCP across the state. Local leaders led the dharnas in Simhadripuram, Pulivendula and other Mandals in the constituency.
Addressing the activists, Vijayamma charged the government with inefficiency and maladministration on the power front.

“The government says farmers are getting the power supply for seven hours regularly but in actual practice power is supplied for hardly five hours. The government has been playing with the lives of the power consumers in the state,” said Vijayamma.

She said while several industries are facing closure in the state, villagers are leading the lives even without a single street light at night. It is the government’s responsibility to bring additional power from the Centre but it failed miserably in its duty, Vijayamma said.
