Vijayamma consoles flood victims

YSR Congress Party
honourary president Smt. Y.S. Vijayamma today visited the submerged areas and
flooded crops under the Budameru belt at Koyyagura Padu in Unguturu Mandalam of
West Godavari district.

After interacting with
farmers and inspecting the submerged crops, Vijayamma said farmers suffered
heavily due to the fury of the Nilam cyclone and demanded the Government to pay
a compensation of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15 000 per acre to the affected farmers.

Earlier, she met the
affected farmers trying to know the details of crop losses and asses the
damage.

Vijayamma was the first
political leader in the state to have visited the flood affected areas and
share the grief of the victims who suffered heavily due to the floods.

Soon after landing at
the Gannavaram airport, Vijayamma straightaway left for the Budameru area by
road to meet the farmers whose crops have been totally submerged by the flood
waters.

When the affected
farmers and villagers narrated the fury of the nature, Vijayamma consoled them
and requested them not to lose heart. “No one should experience this
difficulty,” she told them, adding people would not have suffered this much
damage if YSR had been alive.

Vijayamma assured
people that YSRCP activists and leaders would actively participate in the flood
relief measures. During the visit, she was accompanied by party leaders Y. V.
Subba Reddy and MLAs Amarnath Reddy, Kodali Nani and others.

She also inspected the
Budameru bridge at Puttagunta and spoke to the villagers there.

YSRCP
leaders distribute food packets

Following a call given
by Vijayamma to the party leaders and activists to come to the rescue of the
victims, MLA Nani arranged to distribute 10,000 packets of food to the victims.
