Polavaram DPs should get compensation
07 Dec 2016 9:05 PM

Rampachodavaram (East Godavari dist),
Dec 7: The welfare of tribals affected by the Polavaram project is all
the more important and they are being neglected, said Leader of Opposition YS
Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Speaking at the interactive session with
the displaced persons(DPs), YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said: ‘ the Polavaram project
has been declared as a national project and it has gained importance but the
tribals who are affected with the project should also be rehabilitated in equal
measure.
The Polavaram project is the lifeline of
the people of the state but at the same time tribals who have sacrificed their
land and livelihood should be equally compensated.
The Leader of Opposition is on a two-day
visit to the affected areas and on an interactive tour with displaced persons.
Ever since Chandrababu Naidu has become
the chief minister, work on Polavaram has been slackened and tribal lands are
being forcibly taken away and no adequate compensation is being paid. Despite
many representations and pleadings Chandrababu Naidu has been turning a deaf
ear towards the problems of the tribals, he said.
The government has been siding with the
contractors and neglecting the tribals which show the mindset of Chandrababu
Naidu.
Later the displaced persons had poured
their woes and said that they did not receive adequate compensation.
