My thoughts and prayers are with his family

Eluru: The tragic death of a YSRCP activist, Kaki Durga Rao, marred the Andhra Pradesh bandh over Special Category Status to the state. It is worth mentioning here that YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had called for a statewide bandh today demanding SCS to the state. While participating the bandh protests in demand for the SCS, YSR Congress party worker Durga Rao died due to heart attack here in Buttayi Gudem in West Godavari district today.

Durga Rao's death was caused by the dictatorial attitude of the Chandrababu government in trying to foil the bandh and disrupt the statewide protests by YSRCP leaders, family members and relatives said.

Chaos erupted when the police tried to shift Durga Rao, Thella Balaraju and other YSRCP workers to the police station, it is learnt. In the process, Durga Rao suddenly collapsed due to heart attack, long before he was declared brought dead by the doctors in a nearby hospital. Durga Rao's native village Krishnapuram in Buttayi Gudem mandal, is in a state of shock and mourning over his sudden death.

YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed grief over the unfortunate demise of Durga Rao. YS Jagan said that Durga Rao became a martyr in the fight for SCS. "My thoughts and prayers are with his family," he added. The opposition leader condemned the state government's attitude in trying to foil the bandh, which is being carried out in a democratic and peaceful manner.

Even as we mourn the death of Durga Rao, the police continue to restrict YSRCP leaders with the house arrests, leaders pointed out.
