Jagan files statutory bail petition
16 Nov 2012 2:16 PM

Hyderabad, Nov 16,
2012: YSR Congress Party chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy filed two bail petitions
in CBI special court at Nampally here today.
While one of the bail
petitions is a statutory one, the second one is a normal bail application
related to the charge-sheets filed against him.
Jagan Mohan Reddy filed
the statutory petition seeking bail under Section 167(2) of Cr PC dealing with
bail that an accused should be compulsorily granted bail 90 days after his
arrest. Jagan has not filed such a statutory petition till now in any court.
Jagan’s bail petition
was rejected by the Supreme Court on Oct 5 but the apex court didn’t consider
the statutory provisions under section 167 (2) as the period of 90 days was not
completed when the bail petition was filed by him.
In the second bail
petition filed by him, Jagan Mohan Reddy said the CBI has been filing charge
sheets at regular intervals just to ensure bail is denied to him.
