Farming Sector Plunges Into Deep Crisis In AP

Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party farmers' wing president MVS Nagireddy has said the agriculture sector was plunged into deep trouble as the Chandrababu Naidu's government neglected farming completely for the last three years. 

The official records confirmed farming has gone down drastically in 13 district this agriculture season. The total number of  drought affected mandals were also increased. In  2014-15, the number of mandals declared drought affected  was 230. It has been increased to 357 in 2015-16  and in 2016-17,  it was 301 mandals in Andhra. 

The stand crops also withered due to non availability irrigation water in many district,  the YSR Congress leader said and held government responsible  for increasing the farmers plights.  Despite 140 TMC of water was allocated from Nagarjuna Sagar right canal, government failed to release water in timely. As a result, crops dried up.  He wondered the CM declared the agriculture growth rate at 14 per cent  under the worst conditions faced the farming community last year. 

Nagireddy said the farmers growing cotton and pulses are worsted affected the present conditions reflected the severe drought faced in 1988 by ANdhra.
