Hyderabad, July 17: Ahead of the October Padayatra by YSR Congress Party President, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy the Party would hold preparatory mass contact programmes in all the 175 assembly constituencies in two phases from August 10 to create awareness among the people about the nine assurances of the Party and also highlight the failures of the TDP election promises.
Speaking to reporters after releasing the pamphlet explaining the nine assurances announced by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy during the Plenary, YSR Congress leader Dharmana Prasada Rao said that party cadre will hold meetings and discuss the need for the nine promises and the slogan ‘Anna Vasthunnadu.. Navaratnalu thesthunnadu’ from August 10 to 25 by organizing party cadre from booth committee to the constituency level leaders. In the second phase, the pamphlet along with another one which shows the TDP election promises and its failure to implement them will be distributed to all households in each of the constituency from September 2, coinciding the death anniversary of YSR, for a period of 35 days across the 175 constituencies and explain to the people about the need for the programme and the failures of TDP governance, he said.
With the state government failing to fulfill any of its poll promises and farmers, women groups, students and others being pushed into hardships, it is imperative that the main opposition party should instill confidence among all sections as they are aghast with the priorities of the state government which is always loaded in favour of its favoured few.
The farmers were badly hit with the failure to implement the loan waiver scheme and have become defaulters and are being denied fresh loans, input subsidy, crop insurance, government sops and other benefits. The situation arose with Chandrababu Naidu going back on his word and there is need to assure them.
YSR during his term had given assurance to the farmers which he fulfilled after coming to power in 2004 and has shown the way that welfare schemes can be implemented if there is a will, which TDP lacks. YSR Congress continues the ideals of YSR and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy would take forward the vision of creating a welfare state and after working out all logistics has given the assurances, unlike TDP, he said.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has promised to directly give Rs 50,000 to farmers and an annual amount of Rs 12,500 besides creating Market Stabilisation Fund and Natural Calamity Fund and other sops to infuse confidence among them as TDP has miserably failed to address their problems.
Same is the case with women groups and all bank doors are closed as they have become defaulters after believing Chandrababu Naidu that he would waive all the loans and their credit rating has drastically fallen.
When it comes to pensions, TDP has adopted a very dubious and undemocratic stand by appointing party cadre in the committee to decide the beneficiaries. This is unfair and politicizing the welfare measures, it is political affiliations and not the main criteria that decides the qualifiers eligible for welfare schemes which is undemocratic. Like YSR, the YSR Congress will look beyond political affiliations, caste or creed and take everyone eligible into the fold of the scheme, he said.
The state has miserably failed on its promise of housing and YSR has shown the way and stood as a role model in the entire country on this front and the same spirit and dedication would be continued by building 25 lakh houses in a space of five years, he said.
Senor leaders, Botsa Satyanarayana, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, K Parthasaradhi and others participated in the press meet after releasing the pamphlet.
