People migrated to Gulf countries for livelihoods were getting into big trouble as they were cheated by fake travel agents. On the other hand, they were being harassed by the local administration for entering into the countries without valid documents.
Nearly 9,000 people staying in Kuwait and other Arab countries were entrapped. The victims neither got employment nor allowed to leave the countries.
Encasing the weakness of poor people who desperately seeking employment in Gulf countries, the agents created fake job offer letters and job visa by taking hefty amount from the victims.
After their arrival, the hired agencies in the Arab countries harassed them by paying meagre salaries. They were also exploited by entrusting highly strained physical work. In some cases, the victims were illegally detained. Most of the victims were hailed from drought hit Rayalaseema and North Coastal Andhra districts. Many of them approached Indian embassy to get rid of harassment and fly back to their native places. But local government did not allow them to leave.
Many NGOs already brought to the notice of Chandrababu Naidu the plights of gulf victims but no measures were taken to provide relief.
Considering the issue a serious, YSR Congress Party's Gulf countries wing Convenors and other leaders appraised Chandrababu of the growing problem and requested to come to the rescue of the victims immediately.
