YSRCP will lead mass resistance against privatisation of medical colleges

Tadepalli, Oct 15: A review meeting of YSR Congress Party State Affiliated Wings was held at the party Central Office under the chairmanship of Party State Coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy. Party State General Secretaries Lella Appi Reddy, Aluru Sambasiva Reddy and other senior leaders participated.

Addressing the meeting, Sajjala said YSRCP would intensify its statewide movement against the Chandrababu Naidu government’s push to privatise government medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh. He said the Rachabanda programmes and the One Crore Signature Campaign have gained massive public response, reflecting strong resistance among students, youth and the general public. He warned that privatisation would destroy the dreams of poor and middle-class students aspiring to become doctors, and would hand over public medical institutions to private corporate interests through backdoor dealings. He termed this move a betrayal of public health and social justice.

While YS Jagan Mohan Reddy established transparent welfare delivery systems, Chandrababu Naidu has brought in reverse governance marked by exploitation, collapse of accountability and the unchecked spread of fake liquor. He called on party cadres to confront the government’s anti-people policies with unity and commitment.
On organisational strengthening, he said YSRCP has 18–20 lakh active grassroots cadre and data profiling is underway to form village-level committees alongside existing mandal structures. He directed affiliated wings to coordinate with the Central Office and complete committee formation while actively leading the public campaign against privatisation. He asserted that YSRCP would protect public education, public healthcare and people’s rights under all circumstances.
