YS Jagan slams crackdown on anganwadi workers

Tadepalli, March 3: YSRCP Chief and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy strongly criticised the TDP Coalition government under Chief Minister Chandrabbau Naidu for its action against Anganwadi workers and helpers who are demanding implementation of election promises.
Taking to the social media platform X, he questioned whether asking the government to fulfil promises made during elections is a crime. He said it has been nearly two years, but the assurances given to Anganwadi workers have not been implemented. He asked whether questioning the government for its failure is wrong in a democracy.
YS Jagan stated that the government resorted to harsh measures against women workers who were protesting peacefully. He said police used force, carried out lathi charge, and detained protesters at several places. He stated that basic facilities such as food and drinking water were not provided at protest camps, which he described as inhuman treatment.
He further criticised the government for cutting electricity at protest camps and placing barricades even before holding talks. He said calling workers for discussions in the morning while restricting them the previous night shows insincerity.
YS Jagan accused the government of betraying not only Anganwadi workers but also farmers, students, women, and employees. He said the public is observing these developments closely.
He demanded that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu immediately apologise to Anganwadi workers and fulfil the promises made to them.
