New Delhi: Rajya Sabha MP and YSR Congress National Secretary, V Vijayasai Reddy has urged the Central Election Commission to ensure strengthening the protection of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
In this regard, he has written a letter to Chief Electoral Officer Sunil Aurora on Saturday, appealing that the Central Forces such as CISF and CRPF be deployed for the protection of EVMs as there is no co-operation from the state government.
The YSRCP MP also proposed for CCTV cameras to be installed to monitor the situation 24 hours. Since there is a lot of time for the counting of the votes to take place, he urged for the EVMs be placed in strong rooms with constant vigilance.
Vijayasai Reddy expressed his displeasure over Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's allegations and protests against the Election Commission. On behalf of the YSR Congress party, he thanked the Election Commission for conducting the elections in a honourable manner.
Assembly and Lok Sabha polls were conducted in Andhra Pradesh on April 11 and the counting of votes will take place on May 23.
