TDP resorting to undemocratic tactics in by-polls

Narasaraopet, Feb 14: YSRCP former MLA Kasu Mahesh Reddy strongly criticized TDP for creating anarchy with police support ahead of the Piduguralla municipality Vice Chairman election. He condemned TDP’s actions of kidnapping and threatening YSRCP councilors to disrupt the February 17 by-polls, expressing concern over police complicity.
Mahesh Reddy recalled that YSRCP won all 33 municipal wards unanimously based on YS Jagan’s welfare initiatives. Subbarao (Vaishya community) was appointed Municipal Chairman, Mukkanti (Dalit) Vice Chairman, and Jilani (Minority) Vice Chairman. After Mukkanti’s passing, a by-election was required. Despite holding 32 councilors, YSRCP faced TDP’s unethical attempts to postpone elections and kidnap councilors with police backing.
Mahesh Reddy accused TDP of terrorizing councilors, forcing some to flee. He cited incidents of kidnapping, illegal detentions, and threats, including locking down Chairman Subbarao’s factory.
A habeas corpus petition secured the release of a kidnapped councilor, though he was later coerced into silence.
Highlighting TDP’s oppressive governance, Mahesh Reddy urged the public to recognize these undemocratic practices and remain vigilant against such abuses of power.
