Tadepalli, Oct 17: YSRCP SC Cell State president and former MLA TJR Sudhakar Babu accused the TDP coalition government, police and State Election Commission of failing to ensure fair local elections.
Speaking at the party’s central office, he said TDP workers had attacked YSRCP candidates in several places, snatched and torn nomination papers in front of officials, and intimidated candidates while police stood by. He said the party had submitted video and photo evidence, but those responsible had not faced action.
He cited attacks in Kadapa, Tirupati, Palnadu, Dharmavaram, Rayachoti and Pulivendula, including the attack on MP P. V. Mithun Reddy’s convoy and security staff, and the burning of vehicles outside the YSRCP office in Rayachoti. He also condemned the reported snatching of nomination papers from MP Gurumoorthy in Tirupati and said women candidates had been obstructed. He alleged that YSRCP leaders were being placed under house arrest, detained at night and pressured through old cases and bond proceedings.
Sudhakar Babu demanded an inquiry into the police response, including the role of Kurnool DIG Koya Praveen, and the removal of any biased officers from election duty. He urged the Election Commission to investigate every complaint, ensure equal access to nomination centres and protect candidates. He challenged Chandrababu Naidu to provide evidence for claims that outsiders were brought in, and called on the government to keep police out of politics so voters can choose freely.
