Govt endangering YS Jagan, security failure for Z-plus protectee

Tadepalli, Feb 7: The YSR Congress Party said the state government failed in providing proper security to former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and handled his recent tour with serious negligence. Speaking to the media at the party's central office, party spokesperson and former MP Gorantla Madhav criticised the restrictions imposed on YS Jagan’s visit and said it was unacceptable to subject a Z-plus protectee to unsafe and unplanned movements. He stated that the police were informed of the tour schedule and route map two days in advance, but on the previous night, they sought route changes, citing traffic concerns in Vijayawada. YS Jagan agreed and travelled nearly 50 km via the Mangalagiri bypass, Khaza west bypass, Nallagunta and Guntupalli to reach Ibrahimpatnam, facing repeated obstacles along the way and attempts to prevent supporters from accompanying him, which stretched the travel time to over five hours.

Madhav further said the return journey was handled even more irresponsibly, with police diverting the convoy at night through villages and narrow interior roads without informing YS Jagan’s security or personal staff about the route. He noted that even though a direct route was available, the convoy was rerouted without explanation, exposing a former Chief Minister and a Z-plus category protectee to avoidable risk. Calling the unilateral diversion a serious violation of security protocol, he said the party views it as a deliberate act and urged the government to change its approach and ensure proper security henceforth.
