*Chandrababu responsible for cutting BC Reservations to 24.15%: Gorantla Madhav*

Tadepalli, Oct 9: Former MP and YSRCP spokesperson Gorantla Madhav slammed Chandrababu Naidu for reducing BC reservations from 34% to 24.15% by getting his associate Birru Pratap Reddy to challenge them in court.

Speaking at YSRCP headquarters, Madhav rejected Naidu’s claim of introducing 34% reservations in 1995. The amendment received gubernatorial assent on February 3, 1995, effective December 30, 1994, under Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao. Naidu became Chief Minister only on September 1. Y.S. Jagan’s government restored 34% reservations through GO 176, but Naidu’s court challenge brought them down to 24.15%.

Madhav said the High Court struck down Naidu’s GOs 105 and 1065 following a petition argued by advocate Thandava Yogesh, who had no connection with YSRCP. The party sought only electoral-roll revision before elections. He demanded that Naidu secure a parliamentary amendment through the NDA government and publicly announce the BC reservation percentage for local-body elections.
