Chandrababu betrayed farmers with lies and loot

Tadepalli, November 19: Former Minister and North Andhra Regional Coordinator Kurasala Kannababu slammed Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, stating that beyond marketing himself through lies and credit theft, he has no intention of doing any real good for farmers. Speaking at the YSR Congress Party central office in Tadepalli, Kannababu exposed Chandrababu’s false claims made during the second phase of “Annadata Sukhibhava” disbursals in YSR Kadapa district. He said that under this single scheme alone, Chandrababu deceived farmers to the tune of Rs. 17,000 crore in just two years, arbitrarily removing 7 lakh farmers from the beneficiary list and betraying them after promising Rs. 20,000 per year irrespective of central funds. Instead, the government deposited only Rs. 10,000 in two years, and that too only for 46.85 lakh farmers, while 7 lakh eligible farmers were simply cut off. He demanded an explanation for this massive reduction in beneficiaries and questioned why not a single family of the hundreds of farmers who died by suicide during the 1.5 years of coalition rule was supported.
Kannababu said Chandrababu, who cannot even manage crop procurement, is now talking about using Artificial Intelligence in agriculture. The same leader who failed to provide timely fertilisers and pesticides is boasting about drone surveillance of pest attacks. He ridiculed Chandrababu’s attempt to project himself as the inventor of DBT deposits, reminding that it was YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who introduced the CM App and ensured transparent, corruption-free DBT transfers with a single click, eliminating middlemen. Chandrababu’s newly advertised “Panchasutras” are nothing but repackaged, already existing best practices implemented during YSRCP rule, he added.

He condemned Chandrababu for dismantling the widely acclaimed RBK (Rythu Bharosa Kendram) system, appreciated across the country and praised by NITI Aayog. Jealous that YS Jagan’s governance model earned national recognition, Chandrababu deliberately destroyed RBKs, pushing farmers into chaos. He further said that Rayalaseema became a horticulture hub only under Jagan Mohan Reddy, enabling exports of banana, pomegranate and other produce. Today, Chandrababu is trying to claim credit by merely announcing cold-storage and export ideas that are already functioning.
Kannababu asserted that in one-and-a-half years of coalition rule, the government has done nothing for farmers, no MSP support, no market intervention, no relief for mango, chilli and sugarcane farmers, no action against fake seeds, no stabilisation fund, and no proper supply of urea or pesticides. Even after the Montha cyclone caused heavy crop losses, the government trivialised the damage, announced meagre input subsidy, and acted as though relief had already been fully delivered. The once-free crop insurance scheme, implemented without farmers paying even a single rupee during YSRCP rule, has been dismantled.
He explained that under YSRCP, Rs. 34,378 crore was deposited into the accounts of 53.58 lakh farmers over five years under YSR Rythu Bharosa, Rs. 13,500 per year including PM-Kisan—and the scheme was extended to tenant farmers by issuing 26 lakh CCRC cards. YSRCP also provided Rs. 8,345 crore in crop loans to 6.78 lakh tenant farmers, Rs. 751 crore to SC, ST, BC, and minority tenant farmers, Rs. 731 crore as free crop insurance to 3.55 lakh farmers, and Rs. 253.56 crore as compensation to 2.42 lakh farmers.
In contrast, Chandrababu promised Rs. 20,000 per year but failed to deposit even a single rupee in 2024, and in 2025 deposited only Rs. 5,000 twice for a reduced beneficiary base, resulting in only Rs. 4,685 crore disbursed instead of the required Rs. 21,433 crore. Thus, the coalition government already owes Rs. 16,746 crore to farmers.

Kannababu said that removing 7 lakh farmers from Annadata Sukhibhava clearly indicates distress migration, collapse of agriculture, and deliberate sabotage. He accused the government of blocking benefits for families that have completed death mutations, refusing pending dues, and misusing the NCPI account process to suppress beneficiary numbers. This is nothing but systematic fraud against farmers, he said.
He demanded that the government answer why 7 lakh beneficiaries were removed, why tenant farmers were excluded, why no price stabilisation fund was created, and why not a single promise made to farmers is honoured. Filing cases against YSRCP leaders will not silence the opposition, he warned. The party will continue to question the government until every promise made to farmers is fulfilled. Chandrababu must stop marketing lies and explain the reality to the people.
