Black Day’ for farmers
28 Feb 2025 6:07 PM

Tadepalli, Feb 28: Former Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy denounced the state budget as a "deceptive" that betrays farmers and ignores public aspirations. Labeling today a "black day" for farmers, he accused the government of harming all societal sections. Kakani criticized CM Chandrababu Naidu for repeatedly failing farmers, highlighting the unfulfilled Rs. 20,000 promise, now merged with central funds. He criticized the allocation of a mere Rs. 300 crore for the price stabilization fund, questioning its adequacy and sarcastically asking where these "meager funds" would even reach.
He stated that Naidu lacks legislative honesty, resorting to "two hundred tongues" of falsehoods. Kakani claimed the budget speech slandered ex-CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy while praising Naidu and Lokesh, with the Finance Minister focused on flattery.
He slammed the budget for neglecting agriculture, weakening Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs), and dismantling farmer support systems. In contrast, he praised Jagan’s Rs. 3,000 crore price stabilization fund and free borewells, accusing Naidu of pushing solar power to undermine free electricity.
Calling the budget a "mirror of deceit," Kakani said it lacks vision, offering only "magic tricks" and "fabricated figures." He dismissed "smart agriculture" as empty rhetoric and criticized Naidu’s inaction on issues like the mirchi yard, which Jagan tackled. Terming it a shameful misfortune, he concluded that the budget reveals a government set on sinking farmers, devoid of hope for progress.
