Visakhapatnam, August 1: YSRCP Women’s Wing President and MLC Varudu Kalyani strongly condemned Home Minister Anitha for making indecent and baseless remarks against former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. She demanded that Anitha apologise publicly to the women of Andhra Pradesh for failing to ensure their safety.
Speaking to the media at the YSRCP office in Visakhapatnam, Kalyani said that no amount of conspiracies, barricades, or police restrictions can separate YS Jagan from the people. She said the overwhelming public support during his Nellore tour left the ruling coalition shaken and exposed their insecurity. Despite road digging and massive police deployment, people turned out in huge numbers, proving their unwavering affection for YS Jagan.
Kalyani accused Anitha of making reckless statements only to hold on to her ministerial post. “What has the Home Minister done for the safety of women in the past 13 months? Every day, women and minors are facing heinous crimes, and yet Anitha has remained silent,” she said.
She also criticised the state government for rebranding the 'Disha' app, originally introduced under YSRCP, while earlier mocking it in opposition. Kalyani challenged Anitha to prove her allegations against the Nellore tour visuals and questioned whether she would resign if found wrong.
Referring to several incidents of atrocities against women across the state, Kalyani said that Anitha has failed miserably in her duties and must apologise. She warned that the public is watching and will hold her accountable at the right time.
