Tadepalli, 31 October: Former Minister Ambati Rambabu launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, for abandoning cyclone-affected farmers and trying to cover up his government’s massive privatisation scandal in the name of “PPP medical colleges” by diverting public attention towards a fabricated Tirumala laddoo controversy.
Speaking at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli, Ambati said that at a time when lakhs of farmers in Andhra Pradesh are crying in distress due to crop devastation, Chandrababu and his son Lokesh are focused on pushing government medical colleges into private hands for kick-backs worth hundreds of crores.
He said that unable to face public anger and farmers’ outrage, Chandrababu has once again resorted to diversion politics by dragging Lord Venkateswara’s name and reopening a baseless, malicious campaign claiming that animal fat was used in Tirumala laddoos.
Ambati reminded that it was YV Subba Reddy who approached the Supreme Court over these false allegations, and the Supreme Court itself questioned how a Chief Minister could make such statements without evidence and directed that the ghee used in laddoos be tested and a second opinion also be considered. Till date, Chandrababu has not answered the Supreme Court’s questions, he said. Further, Ambati pointed out that then TTD EO Shyamala Rao publicly stated that the ghee sent for testing received a disclaimer from NDDB saying any finding could vary depending on cattle feed and timing, that TTD returned the batch and did not use a drop of it, and that there was no animal fat. Despite this clarity, Ambati said Chandrababu spread lies and defamed Tirumala’s sacred prasadam for political vengeance.
He strongly condemned the arrest of Chinnappanna, who served as PA to Subba Reddy eight years ago, highlighting how SIT summoned him on May 31, interrogated him again on June 6, and four months later suddenly arrested him only to sling mud at YSRCP. Ambati recalled how Chinnappanna released a video saying SIT pressured him to falsely name YV Subba Reddy and Dharma Reddy, and when he refused, they targeted him. Ambati questioned why the SIT and yellow media are silent about the fact that Chinnappa also worked with TDP MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy and his wife Prashanthi Reddy, who, along with Kolusu Parthasarathy, were also on the TTD purchasing committee when YV Subba Reddy was Chairman. “Why are they not questioned? Why does yellow media not even mention their names? Is it because they are now in TDP and protected? This clearly exposes the vendetta motive,” he said.
On the ghee issue, Ambati exposed Chandrababu’s hypocrisy by reminding that during the 2014–19 TDP rule, TTD purchased ghee at Rs. 276/kg, yet during YSRCP government procurement ranged from Rs. 320 to Rs. 1,000 depending on quality. If Rs. 320 is adulterated as per TDP’s logic, then was Rs. 276 pure? Today TTD is not buying ghee at Rs. 3,000 or even Rs. 1,600 as TDP-media propaganda claimed. “Let Chandrababu say honestly at what price they are buying ghee now. They cannot, and that is why they are lying,” he stated.
Ambati also condemned attempts to frame former Minister Jogi Ramesh in the spurious liquor case while main accused linked to TDP, Jayachandra Reddy, Giri Chandra Reddy and PA Rajesh, remain mysteriously unavailable to police. “If they are arrested, TDP’s role in fake liquor will be exposed, and that is why they are protected. Instead, they are trying to jail Jogi Ramesh for questioning Chandrababu,” he said.
Concluding, Ambati said Chandrababu has crossed every limit by using the Lord’s name, SIT machinery, and yellow media to pursue political revenge. Such politics, he warned, will be judged both by God and the people. “We are not afraid of inquiries. We are ready to face anything. But we will not allow Chandrababu to use Tirumala, bhakti, and Lord Venkateswara to hide corruption, betray farmers, and witch-hunt YSRCP leaders. This evil politics will not stand,” he declared.
