YSRCP demands white paper on irrigation projects
20 Nov 2015 5:43 PM
Hyderabad, Reiterating that TDP
government has been allotting irrigation contracts to its favoured few with
inflated estimates, YSR Congress has demanded a white paper on the data of irrigation
projects in the state.
‘The projects are being awarded to
companies owned by Party leaders thogh the process is routed by an official
committee, a member who had given a dissent note on the way proceedings are
taking places shows the level of nepotism and corruption in the irrigation
contracts,’ party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma told reporters here on Friday.
It is not just the Kuppam branch canal
contract, every project from Handri-Neva, Galeru-Nagari and Pattiseema, the
estimates were inflated and given to favoured contractors and at times on a
single contract and we demand a white paper on the data of irrigation projects
during the 18 month term of Chandrababu Naidu, she sai
The estimate of Handri-Neva was
increased from RS 194 crore to Rs 558 crore while the Rs 12 crore Galeru Nagari
project, of which 90 % of the work was completed has been increased to Rs 110
crore and the contract was bagged by the company owed by TDP union minister. The
same method was followed for Pattiseema and TDP did not make any effort to
pursue the Centre sponsored Polavaram project, she said
We demand a white paper to know the
status of projects when TDP took over, the progress during the 18 months,
tenders called for and to whom the contracts were awarded to, she said
Taking objection to Chandrababu’s
remarks at Vijayawada while signing MoU with MNC Wal-Mart that the retail store
would be taken to every village, she said, the rural economy would be badly
affected with such a move. ‘YSR Congress has opposed the bill on FDI in retail
market and it was TDP which has taken a dubious stand on the issue and the
result is being seen now,’ she said.
