Kummara leaders meet YS Jagan in Kurnool

Kurnool: Representatives from the Kummara caste who are traditionally clay pot makers submitted a petition to YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on day 12 of his paadayatra in Kurnool. The signature petition singed by communitiy leaders contains nine appeals to the YSRCP president to be taken up once the party comes to power.
Chief of their demands is according greater political representation to the community. Representatives reminded that YSR had granted one MLA and two MLC seats to the community during his term which was not continued by successive governments.
The second demand relates to allocation of certain amount in the budget for the upliftment of the community.
Representatives also requested the opposition leader to put pressure on the government for accelerating works on the proposed ceramic factory in Nellore.
Unavailability of clay mud for continuing their traditional craft was brought to the notice of YS Jagan.
A request for allocating market space in every mandal for trading clay pots was also included.
The petition also contained a request for the community to be segragated under the BC-A category instead of the existing BC-B status given to them.
