*YSRCP pays Tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr B.R. Ambedkar*
Tadepalli, April 14: Former Chief Minister and YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy paid rich tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on his 135th birth anniversary at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli by offering floral tributes to his portrait. The programme was attended by several leaders, including former ministers Merugu Nagarjuna and Adimulapu Suresh, MLCs Lella Appi Reddy and Monditoka Arun Kumar, party leaders TJR Sudhakar Babu, Jupudi Prabhakar Rao, Rajasekhar and other Dalit leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, former minister Adimulapu Suresh stated that Chandrababu Naidu’s governance is oppressive and against the ideals of Dr. Ambedkar, that even installation of Ambedkar statues in villages is being obstructed, Dalits were given housing in the heart of the capital during Y.S. Jagan’s tenure was reversed after Chandrababu came to power, and that Dalit self-respect has been undermined, asserting that YS Jagan becoming Chief Minister again is a historic necessity.
Party General Secretary Jupudi Prabhakar Rao said that Y.S. Jagan carried forward Ambedkar’s ideals through welfare and development programmes, while Dalits are facing injustice under the current regime, and stated that the MAVIGUN proposal reflects Ambedkar’s vision of decentralization with a capital among the people and without burdening the state with debt.
Publicity Wing State President Rajasekhar said Ambedkar dedicated his life for the nation and upliftment of the oppressed, and that only YSR and Jagan upheld his ideals, recalling YS Jagan’s decision to install a 125-foot Ambedkar statue in Vijayawada and his name was later removed and the TDP government suppressing Dalits politically and economically, denying them due funds, and allowing an increase in atrocities against Dalits under Chandrababu’s rule.
