*Women suffered the most in Chandrababu’s two years of rule*
Tadepalli, May 31: YSRCP Coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy stated that women suffered the most during the two years of Chandrababu Naidu-led coalition rule and described the government as a symbol of betrayal, cheating and exploitation.
Speaking at the statewide meeting of the YSRCP women’s wing held at the party central office in Tadepalli under the campaign “Two Years of Chandrababu’s Backstabbing rule, Sajjala said the coalition government removed welfare schemes introduced during the YSRCP rule and failed to fulfil the promises made to women before elections. He criticised Chandrababu for claiming at Mahanadu that the government was committed to women empowerment and would provide 33 percent reservations.
“YSRCP had already implemented 50 percent reservations for women and even brought a law for it. Now they are not even talking about that law, but are making fresh promises to mislead people,” he said.
He stated that the government was surviving only through false propaganda and diversion politics. Sajjala said whenever the opposition questions the failures of the government, the ruling party uses “planted voices” to attack critics and divert attention.
He praised YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for strengthening women financially and socially during the YSRCP government. Sajjala said women should now go among the people and explain the “betrayal and exploitation” of the coalition government with facts and statistics.
YSRCP women’s wing state president Varudu Kalyani questioned the sincerity of TDP leaders on women’s reservations. She asked why the ruling party was not giving women representation in Rajya Sabha and MLC seats if it was truly committed to women empowerment.
She said the coalition government failed to implement even the first promise under the “Super Six” scheme and had completely ignored the Aadabidda Nidhi promise even after two years in power.
Kalyani said there was no development or employment generation under the coalition government. She pointed out that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had filled more than 1.30 lakh jobs through a single notification, while the present government could not fill even 20,000 jobs in two years.
Former minister Vidadala Rajini alleged that women leaders and YSRCP supporters were being harassed with false cases for questioning the government. Former MP Tanuja Rani said YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had already supported the women’s reservation bill and implemented 50 percent reservations during the YSRCP rule.
Several other women leaders including Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi, Uppala Harika, Are Shyamala and Kakani Poojitha criticised the coalition government and accused it of failing to protect women and fulfil its promises. Women leaders from across Andhra Pradesh participated in the programme.
