*TDP leaders shielded in immoral cases: Kakani Govardhan Reddy*
Nellore, March 24: Former Minister and YSRCP Nellore District President Kakani Govardhan Reddy launched a sharp attack on the TDP leadership, stating that new instances of immoral and illegal activities involving its leaders are surfacing every day, while the police machinery is being used to shield them. Addressing the media at the YSRCP district office in Nellore, he questioned whether the power supply was deliberately cut to help a TDP MLA escape while being caught with a woman, and asked if this was the role of the police. He alleged that even when a TDP leader was caught red-handed during a police raid in a lodge in Nellore for engaging in prostitution, he was let off without action, exposing blatant misuse of authority.
He specifically referred to TDP leader Radhakrishna Naidu, who was caught during a police raid conducted under the supervision of the Nellore ASP, and was among 17 individuals detained. Despite video evidence of him being counselled at the police station going viral on social media, the police released him, citing that he had come for medical reasons. Kakani demanded that if the police version is true, they must release the relevant hospital footage and also make public the videos of lodge raids conducted in Nellore.
He said the conduct of the police has become deeply questionable, as they are letting off ruling party leaders involved in immoral and illegal acts while harassing victims and those who question such actions. He alleged that TDP leaders are acting with impunity under the belief that they have full protection from Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, leading to a breakdown of law enforcement credibility.
Kakani further stated that several incidents of sexual misconduct involving ruling party leaders have surfaced, including allegations against TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu, who continues in office despite serious accusations and prior complaints. He also cited instances involving MLAs and public representatives from different constituencies who were allegedly caught in similar situations but faced no consequences, with police either suppressing evidence or avoiding action.
He criticised the government for targeting opposition leaders and activists with cases for raising issues, while those involved in wrongdoing are protected. He warned that such misuse of power and police machinery will not be ignored and asserted that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible when YSRCP returns to power. He also urged police officials to change their approach immediately and uphold the law impartially.
