Vishakapatnam, May 29: Former MLA Petla Uma Shankar Ganesh stated that Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu has misled the High Court by filing a false affidavit and is openly disregarding court orders while facilitating illegal constructions in the Narsipatnam Pedda Cheruvu area. Addressing the media at the YSRCP City Office in Visakhapatnam, he stated that although the Speaker claimed before the High Court that he had no connection with the “Srushti Kshetram” project, the foundation executing the project is owned by his daughter-in-law, exposing what he described as a deliberate attempt to mislead the judiciary.
Ganesh questioned why district authorities, particularly the Anakapalli Collector, have failed to act despite High Court directions prohibiting construction activities in the lake without necessary approvals. He said that when YSRCP leaders visited the site to document alleged violations and bring them to public attention, they were attacked by TDP supporters, their vehicles were damaged, and false criminal cases were subsequently filed against YSRCP activists. He further alleged that initially bailable cases were later converted into non-bailable offences through manipulated statements and political pressure.
The former MLA accused the Speaker and his son of misusing political influence to run large-scale laterite mining and quarry operations in Narsipatnam. He claimed that over the past two years, illegal activities linked to laterite extraction and quarrying generated more than Rs. 500 crore, while nearly 30 acres of Endowments Department land worth around Rs. 100 crore had been unlawfully occupied. He also alleged that public resources were being exploited by invoking the names of senior ruling-party leaders and that business interests were being pressured for financial benefits.
Ganesh stated that the issue is not merely about a construction project but about the blatant disregard for the rule of law by those occupying constitutional positions. He warned that those responsible for violating court orders, intimidating political opponents, and abusing authority would eventually be held accountable before the law. He asserted that YSRCP would continue its legal and democratic fight until all alleged irregularities are thoroughly investigated and those responsible face appropriate action.
