Rajahmundry, March 15: Former Member of Parliament Margani Bharat strongly condemned the  involvement of TDP MP Putta Mahesh Yadav in a drugs rave party and demanded his immediate removal from the Lok Sabha. Speaking to the media at the YSRCP office in Rajahmundry on Sunday, Bharat said it was a disgrace to the state that a sitting Member of Parliament was reportedly caught consuming drugs at a rave party along with former public representatives and businessmen. He stated that while Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu publicly lectures about eliminating drugs, leaders within his own party are involved in such activities and are being protected. Bharat also expressed outrage over reports that after being caught, Mahesh Yadav fired at police officers of the Eagle team, calling it a clear example of “goonda rule” under the coalition government.

Bharat said Putta Mahesh Yadav, who represents Eluru and is the son of former TTD chairman Putta Sudhakar Yadav, has brought disrepute to constitutional institutions and demanded that Chandrababu Naidu immediately ensure his resignation from the MP post and suspend him from the party. He questioned why the TDP leadership had not taken any action despite such serious allegations and criticised attempts by the party to portray the incident as Mahesh Yadav’s personal matter. Bharat urged the police not to succumb to any political pressure and demanded a comprehensive investigation into the entire drugs network behind the incident. He said the authorities must identify who is protecting the drug mafia and bring the real masterminds behind the network to justice.

He further alleged that drug networks are rapidly spreading across colleges and several parts of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, while the coalition government has failed to control the menace. Bharat said that during the YSRCP government, strict action was taken to curb drugs and ganja, but under the present government illegal liquor, drugs and narcotics have been allowed to spread unchecked. He also accused the government of trying to shield the MP after the incident came to light and said the matter surfaced only because the media exposed it. Bharat demanded that Chandrababu Naidu take moral responsibility, ensure Mahesh Yadav’s resignation, suspend him from the party and conduct a full investigation to expose the larger network behind the drug racket. He said people are clearly seeing the difference between responsible leadership and those who misuse power and position.
