Palnadu, Jan 15: Former Gurazala MLA Kasu Mahesh Reddy stated that a YSR Congress Party activist, Salman of Pinnelli village, was brutally murdered by Telugu Desam leaders under the protection of local police, exposing the complete collapse of law and order in the state. He said the attack took place with the backing of MLA Yarapathineni Srinivas Rao and Dachepalli Circle Inspector Ponnuru Bhaskar. According to him, since the coalition government came to power, hundreds of families from Pinnelli have been forced to leave the village due to fear, and Salman was among those who had moved out to survive.

Kasu Mahesh Reddy said Salman recently returned to Pinnelli only to speak to his ailing wife, when he was attacked by TDP leaders. He was grievously injured, slipped into a coma, and after battling for life in hospital for three days, succumbed to his injuries. Shockingly, instead of acting against the attackers, police registered a case against Salman himself even while he lay in a coma, and invoked only weak sections against those who attempted to kill him.

He said Salman’s last rites will be held in Pinnelli tomorrow, and demanded to know how Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh can speak about morality and governance when nearly 1,500 people from the same village are living outside out of fear. He called the incident not just a murder, but an indictment of a government that has surrendered law enforcement to political violence.
