Naidu pushes farmers into  crisis: MSP denied, procurement collapses

Tadepalli, Dec 9: YSRCP State official spokesperson and former MLA Kaile Anil Kumar strongly condemned the TDP-led alliance government for plunging the agricultural sector into deep crisis and inflicting injustice on farmers at every step.
Speaking at the YSRCP central office, he said the government has utterly failed even to provide basic gunny bags, leaving farmers to dry their paddy on village roads for 10–15 days. He revealed that despite an official Minimum Support Price (MSP) of ₹1,777, millers are purchasing paddy at just ₹1,300 per bag under the excuse of moisture content, while generating bills for the full MSP.
A farmer selling 100 bags is losing nearly ₹50,000, but the civil supplies department continues to look the other way as millers and middlemen run a free-for-all. Even urea shortages have resurfaced, forcing farmers into long queues, proving yet again the government’s incompetence.

Anil Kumar contrasted this chaos with the YS Jagan era, when Rythu Bharosa Kendras decided moisture levels transparently, ensured transport, and guaranteed procurement. Today, RBKs have been sidelined and “custodian officers” are unavailable, allowing millers and brokers to dictate terms. In several villages, transportation has collapsed, with lorries failing to lift paddy lying for days. TDP leaders are reportedly sitting at procurement points deciding whose paddy should be moved, while helpless farmers watch their crop deteriorate.
He criticised Chandrababu Naidu for demoralising farmers with reckless statements such as “no one is eating rice” and “we will not procure paddy next year,” pushing farmers towards distress and even suicides. Despite cyclone losses, increased cultivation costs of up to ₹15,000, and reduced yields by 10–15 bags, the government has not provided input subsidy or ensured e-Crop, depriving tenant farmers who are now forced to sell at ₹1,100–₹1,200. Even good-quality late-sown paddy is being quoted at just ₹1,000–₹1,100 by millers.
He said the government is repeating last year’s blunder of urea shortage and is deliberately avoiding procurement discussions while only promising payment within 24 hours for the little paddy they do lift. During YS Jagan’s tenure, even rain-damaged paddy was purchased after fixing a fair price, but today the government refuses to buy even good-quality grain. With no input subsidy, no crop insurance, no e-Crop, and no procurement support, the alliance government has abandoned farmers completely, destroying systems that once made agriculture a festival.
Kaile Anil Kumar demanded immediate supply of gunny bags, strict action against miller–broker scams, and procurement of all paddy at full MSP. If the government continues to escape responsibility and ignores farmers’ suffering, large-scale protests will become inevitable, he warned.
