Visakhapatnam, Dec 15: Terming the one-crore signature campaign against the privatisation of medical colleges as a grand success, YSRCP has said that the coalition government has been giving away prime land in the city to real estate companies at throwaway prices.

Speaking to the media, former minister Gudivada Amarnath said the one-crore signature campaign clearly reflects the mood of the people, which is strongly against the privatisation of medical colleges. He said the signed copies were segregated at all district headquarters and are being sent to the party headquarters.

YSRCP Party President and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will meet the Governor on December 18 and submit the one crore signatures, appraising him of the strong public opposition to the government’s decision and seeking an immediate rollback of the privatisation move.

Gudivada Amarnath said the Chandrababu Naidu government has been giving away prime land in the city at throwaway prices to real estate companies, which is unprecedented. He pointed out that such companies do not create jobs but are merely rent-seeking entities focused on profiteering.

He said Sattva Developers is a real estate company and that the coalition government has extended concessions beyond comprehension. Out-of-the-way discounts were given by drastically deflating land values, extending payment periods, and waiving interest.

As much as 30 acres of prime land at Rushikonda was given to Sattva at throwaway prices, raising serious questions of conspiracy and corruption involving the father-son duo, as such concessions were not extended in other states. He said the Lulu Group was also being given undue concessions and asserted that YSRCP would fight at all levels to stop the misuse of office and the loss to the exchequer.

He further said the coalition government, which has raised loans of Rs 2.66 lakh crore, has failed to fulfil its poll promises or effectively carry out welfare measures, whereas the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy government strictly followed the job calendar and implemented all welfare schemes on schedule
