*Law and Order under siege in AP*
Tadepalli, June 16: YSRCP General Secretary and former MLA Gadikota Srikanth Reddy said law and order in Andhra Pradesh has deteriorated drastically under the coalition government, warning that intimidation, political violence, and misuse of the police machinery have become routine. He stated that the midnight attack by MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar on the residence of a lawyer and the disappearance of Sai Krishna after being taken into police custody reflect the complete collapse of constitutional governance.
Srikanth Reddy said elected representatives are functioning as extra-constitutional authorities, using the police to target critics while remaining above the law. He questioned the silence of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan over incidents involving ruling party leaders, asking why decisive action has not been taken despite public evidence.
He further stated that ordinary citizens have nowhere to turn when police officers work in coordination with political leaders instead of protecting the public. He criticized what he described as the government’s focus on commissions, illegal sand and land operations, and political vendettas while suppressing democratic dissent through fabricated cases and intimidation.
Referring to the Sai Krishna incident, Srikanth Reddy said the police have failed to disclose his whereabouts even after intervention by the High Court, raising serious concerns over custodial violence and accountability. He also condemned attempts to block YSRCP social media platforms for highlighting issues such as public debt, recruitment irregularities, corruption, and law and order failures.
Warning that no government remains in power forever, he urged the coalition leadership to respect democratic values and constitutional institutions, stating that history has shown even the most authoritarian regimes eventually fall when they seek to silence public scrutiny instead of addressing their failures.
