Distortions included by coaltion in Governor’s address: Vellampalli Srinivas
Tadepalli, Jan 26: Former Minister Vellampalli Srinivas strongly criticised the coalition government for converting the Governor’s Republic Day address into a catalogue of lies and factual distortions, stating that it was disgraceful to make the Governor speak falsehoods. Speaking to the media at the YSRCP Central Office in Tadepalli, he said the coalition government, which came to power on massive promises under the banner of “Super Six,” has failed to implement even a single major assurance and has deceived every section of society.
He said the government promised to release a Job Calendar every January 1, provide two lakh jobs annually, and pay Rs. 3,000 as unemployment allowance, but even after two full years there is no Job Calendar and not a single unemployed youth has received the allowance. He said while the Governor’s speech projected achievements, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has been making exaggerated claims of massive job creation in national media, damaging the credibility of the State. He said the coalition government has also betrayed Amaravati farmers who gave their lands for the capital and has slashed welfare schemes across the board. Under Thalliki Vandanam, instead of the promised support, mothers were paid arbitrary reduced amounts such as Rs. 9,000, Rs. 8,000 and Rs. 7,000 without uniformity, while nearly 30 lakh students’ mothers were completely excluded. He said Annadata Sukhibhava and free gas cylinder schemes are only partially implemented, and the newly introduced P4 programme is nothing but a diversion drama with no real benefits.
Vellampalli Srinivas said that despite borrowing over Rs. 3.25 lakh crore in just 20 months, the coalition government has achieved nothing except publicity campaigns and luxury travel in special flights. He said law and order has collapsed, women’s safety has deteriorated, and all institutions have been systematically weakened. He said key sectors such as education, healthcare and agriculture have been pushed into deep crisis. He said government schools have deteriorated badly, nearly nine lakh children have dropped out, and fee reimbursement and Vasathi Deevena dues are pending for multiple quarters. He said Aarogyasri has been crippled, hospital bills remain unpaid, 108 and 104 emergency services have weakened, and government medical colleges built during YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure are now being pushed towards privatisation under the PPP model.
He said agriculture has been destroyed, with no minimum support price, no free crop insurance, no zero-interest loans, and non-functional RBKs, leaving farmers in deep distress even during festivals. He said the coalition government has also destroyed the fourth pillar of democracy by weakening law and order, turning Andhra Pradesh into one of the worst states for public safety. He said BC, SC and ST communities are being targeted under a so-called “Red Book Constitution,” while the Home Minister has failed to even conduct proper reviews of her own department and remains focused only on attacking YS Jagan.
He criticised the coalition leadership for destroying Amaravati for real-estate interests, inflating project costs, favouring contractors through mobilisation advances, and silencing those who question corruption. He said the Governor’s address delivered nothing meaningful to the people and falsely claimed full implementation of schemes, even though the widely publicised “Super Six” itself has not been implemented. He said while the previous YSRCP government borrowed less over five years and spent it on welfare, the present coalition has crossed Rs. 3.25 lakh crore in 20 months without delivering benefits.
Vellampalli Srinivas said that in the Tirumala laddu issue, investigation agencies have filed charge sheets and the truth will come out, ensuring that those who made irresponsible statements will have to repent. Responding to comments on “No Work, No Pay,” he said TDP leaders have no moral right to speak on Assembly discipline, recalling how between 2014 and 2019, 23 MLAs were defected and some were even made ministers, and questioned whether Chandrababu Naidu returned his salary when he himself stayed away from the Assembly.
He concluded by stating that the coalition government has completely failed in governance, has misused the Governor’s address to spread falsehoods, and that the days are not far when the people will hold this government accountable.
