Sharmila promises Market Stabilization Fund
Sharmila reiterated to the farmers that her brother and YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would keep his promise of creating a Rs.3000 Cr Market Stabilization Fund to help farmers with continuity of reasonable minimum support prices for their agricultural produce after coming to power.
Sharmila gave this assurance to the groundnut farmers when they met her at Aravakuru during the course of her 14th day Maro Praja Prasthanam on Wednesday and listed out their problems. She visited the dried ground nut crops and consoled the farmers.
One Narayana, a groundnut farmer from Aravakur, narrated his story of losses to Sharmila and told her he suffered a loss of Rs.45,000 on his ground nut crop. He complained they are not even getting full insured amount for their crops. “The officials are telling we will get only equal amount to the paid premium and not the insured amount,” he told Sharmila.
Assuring that YSRCP would introduce crop insurance scheme soon after coming to power, Sharmila said Kiran Kumar Reddy has been adopting the same policy in payment of insurance to farmers as Naidu did during his regime.
“Chandrababu will not come into the mindset of people but he wants people to come into his mindset,” Sharmila said, adding Chief Minister Kiran has taken Naidu as a model in this regard.
During YSR regime, a village was taken as a unit and compensation was paid up to 95 per cent, Sharmila reminded them, adding that the present government has no intention of helping farmers financially.
