Sharmila aims to bring back Rajanna Raj

YSR Congress Party Chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister Sharmila kicked off her Maro Praja Prasthanam from Idupulapaya in YSR district amid cheers by a sea of humanity on Thursday.

The Padayatra, which is aimed at exposing the Government’s failures and assuring the people of the party’s commitment to bring back the YSR’s welfare schemes, began after party honourary president Vijayamma and Sharmila addressed the mammoth crowd gathered at the YSR Samadhi.

Earlier, Vijayamma and her family members paid homage at YSR Samadhi and Sharmila sought blessings of her father to her Padayatra.

During the historic 3000-km Padayatra spanning over more than 12,000 villages in 125 assembly constituencies of 16 districts, Sharmila will also try to expose the Government’s efforts to abdicate YSR’s welfare schemes and the TDP’s failures in the discharge of its duties towards the people.

It would be quite appropriate to say that while YSR had led his 1475 km Padayatra in the scorching heat of 2003 with a promise to bring back the Indiramma Rajyam, Sharmila now took upon herself the responsibility of her jailed brother Jagan and is leading the Yatra to assure people that YSRCP would bring back the Rajanna Rajyam (YSR Raj).

The Yatra, which is likely to run for more than six months, is accompanied by a vast number of party leaders and tens of thousands of activists, Jagan fans, YSR fans and also a large number of  women.

Wearing black badges against the conspiracy of the TDP and the Congress against Jagan and jailing him, Sharmila will walk around 14 to 20 km each day and interact with people at the grass root level.
