TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s efforts for reviving the much talked about third front seem to have made no headway in Delhi. Going by the reports, Mulayam Singh Yadav and Lalu Prasad Yadav have vetoed his idea of reviving the third front to take on the UPA and the NDA in the next elections.

“There is no hurry for such a political front,” they told Naidu bluntly when he met them in Delhi on Wednesday and discussed the issue.

Naidu met with Deve Gowda, Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, Lalu Prasad Yadav, AB Bardhan and Prakash Karat and discussed the issue of making efforts to ensure that Parliament and state legislatures will enact laws to ensure reservations for BCs in the light of his party’s BC declaration.

Naidu stirred a hornet’s nest by declaring that his party is ready to provide 100 tickets to BCs in the next elections. Naidu made the declaration to gain political advantage and with a view on the BC vote bank but his sincerity in making the statement was questioned by the YSR Congress party which announced it was ready to ensure that 100 BC members would be elected to the assembly.

Till date, there is no proper response from the TDP to the statement of YSR Congress honourary president Smt. YS Vijayamma that her party would ensure 100 members are elected to the assembly. “Giving 100 tickets to BCs is not enough. We have to ensure that 100 BC representatives are elected to the assembly,” she said in her statement that sent shivers down the spine of other political parties.

Instead of making efforts towards ensuring the election of 100 BC members to the assembly as suggested by Vijayamma, Naidu chose to visit Delhi to discuss his party’s BC declaration with national party leaders.

However, there is also an opinion that Naidu visited Delhi lobbying with the Delhi congress bosses over his legal cases.
