TDP’s hypocrisy and double standards vis-à-vis its attitude over important public issues has been exposed to the hilt during the ‘Vasutunna Meekasam’ Padayatra of its president Chandrababu Naidu when Excise officials seized several cases of spurious liquor being distributed to the participants of the Yatra and arrested two senior leaders of the party responsible for it on Sunday.

People were shocked when Excise police caught red-handed Ananthapuram district TDP leaders S.Srinivasulu and Suresh alias Dalmil Suri and seized 171 cases of spurious liquor from them after raiding their farmhouses.

The story of spurious liquor distribution to the participants of the Yatra began when some party workers found the taste of the liquor served to them ‘not spicy’ and lodged a complaint to the Excise officials.

In fact, one Rama Devi brought to the notice of Naidu the issue of spurious liquor distribution among the participants of the Yatra at Somamdepalli but Naidu claimed that it was all happening due to the emergence of innumerable number of belt shops. “I will order removal of all these belt shops after coming to power” he claimed boldly.

However, reports indicated that Naidu tried to water down the issue by bringing immense pressure on the Excise officials through his Delhi contacts so that a normal liquor distribution case is registered against the leaders.

According to Excise officials, the spurious liquor was stored in a cellar belonging to the farm house of district TDP leader Srinivasulu near Kotha cheruvu in the district and the party leaders have been distributing the spurious liquor daily to the participants from the day one of the Yatra.

It is also leant that the labels on the spurious liquor bottles have matched with those of the found on the Padayatra route.

TDP leaders have been transporting people to the Naidu’s Yatra on payment of Rs.100 per head and handing over of a quarter size battle of liquor. It seems the TDP leaders have resorted to spurious liquor distribution as they are unable to pay for the original liquor.
