Jagan - one and only heir of YSR’s legacy

The fledgling YSR Congress party has been fast making inroads into the hearts and homes of common people.  Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has proved beyond any doubt that he alone has inherited the YSR’s legacy in politics by sweeping the recent by polls in the state.

However, the Congress leadership too is making desperate attempts to portray that it is the true heir of YSR legacy.

Notwithstanding the recent recommendations by the Ministers’ panel that YSR name should be delinked with dozens of welfare schemes introduced by YSR, the Congress leaders in the state, without any shame, have been burning midnight oil to send a message to the public that they are eligible to inherit the political legacy of YSR.

Unable to digest the fact that the people have already acknowledged Jagan Mohan Reddy as the true inheritor of YSR in politics, the Congress leaders have begun making futile attempts to depict themselves as the true followers of YSR.

The eye-washing statements of some Congress leaders praising YSR on the occasion of his third Vardhanthi on Sept 2 are only part of the attempts by them to fulfill their illegitimate agenda.

While PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana claimed that YSR was their leader and all Congress leaders should strive to follow his legacy, Labour minister Danam Nagender went further saying that YSR image should be reinstated on the 108 emergency services as it was the brainchild of YSR.

The statements of Botcha and Nagender are quite contradictory to the one made by Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy earlier. “YSR was highly powerful and had enjoyed irrevocable clout and influence in Delhi. Hence, we could not resist signing the files sent to us by YSR. At the same time, we can’t be blamed for the lapses during the YSR regime,” said finance minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy in his complaint to the Chief Minister Kumar Reddy.

The proposed releasing of the book "Padayatra My Diary -- Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy" penned by Congress Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandra Rao on Sept 7 in Delhi  by  the Congress leaders Motilal Vora and Ghulam Nabi Azad is only a multiplication of their efforts to snatch away the legacy from Jagan.

On one hand, the Congress government has been systematically diluting the dozens of welfare schemes introduced by YSR. Even, a few ministers, who dare not to even look straight into the eyes of YS Rajasekhara Reddy while he was alive, are now going to the extent of publicly slaying the late leader to please their political bosses in Delhi.

On the other, some of the Congress leaders have been on and off making statements praising YSR. Is it not a dual policy of the Congress leaders? Is it not a hypocritical stand of the Government?

In the backdrop of the people’s recognition of Jagan as the true heir apparent of YSR, the attempts of the Congress leaders will wither away as they carry no genuine credentials on the issue.

The way the Congress leaders are changing their stance towards YSR will boomerang on them as their dilly-dallying is not liked by the people.
