YSRCP to appeal to Prez with 1Cr signatures
Hyderabad, Dec 22, 2012: YSR Congress party has decided to appeal to the President of India Pranab Mukherjee seeking his intervention to stop the victimization of its president Sri Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy by the CBI.
For this purpose, the party has launched an innovative programme called ‘People’s Signature for Jagan’ to collect one crore signatures from the general public on an appeal to be sent to Pranab Mukherjee. The appeal points out that the CBI has been burning midnight oil to project Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy as the culprit in a politically foisted case.
“Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy has been jailed for the last 200 days for the simple reason of his coming out the Congress party and launching his own political party. Working under political pressure, the CBI has been going overboard to project him as the culprit in a case foisted on him as part of the political vendetta. With biased investigation, the probing officials have been resorting to misuse of their official position and destroying the propriety of the investigating agency. We appeal to you to intervene and stop this political vendetta and victimization of Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy,” says the appeal.
After deciding to collect the signatures and send the appeal to the President of India at a meeting at the party central office Friday evening, senior leader D.Ravindra Naik inked his first signature followed by DA Somayajulu, Mysura Reddy, Vasireddy Padma, Janak Prasad, Nalla Suryaprakasa Rao, HA Rehman, Gattu Ramachandra Rao, Medapati Venkat, Vijaya Reddy and others.
The meeting felt that Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy was singled out for victimization by the CBI while the agency has been acting differently in the case related to Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawathi in UP.
The signature campaign launched in the party office is now going on at a brisk pace with party leaders and activists meeting people for signatures and getting an unprecedented response to the campaign.
