YSRCP condemns attack on Shilpa; demands action

Hyderabad, Aug 24: Condemning the attack on former MLC Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy, YSR Congress has demanded the immediate arrest of the attackers and withdrawing the security cover to them and the incident makes it clear that Chandrababu Naidu has been encouraging faction politics.

 Speaking to reporters here on Thursday party MLA G Srikanth Reddy said, ‘TDP supporters with a criminal record had attacked the brother of our candidate Shilpa Mohan Reddy at stone’s throw distance away from the place where the cabinet ministers have lodged themselves and converted the hotel into a secretariat.

The person, a rowdy sheeter and close associate of Chandrababu Naidu had fired at Chakrapani Reddy and went berserk for nearly one hour with arms and the police fled the scene. This is an indication of the misuse of power and the way in which faction politics are being patronized by the Chief Minister.

During elections, in normal course it is mandatory to deposit weapons and bullets in the respective police stations and just within 24 hours of the polls, this Madhu had come up with his weapon and fired at Chakrapani Reddy for resigning the MLC post of TDP before joining YSRCP.

How can a rowdy sheeter, procure weapon within one day of polls and how can he go on a rampage from the hotel where the state ministers are camping?

We strongly condemn the incident and demand that Madhu who fired at our leader be booked immediately and a case booked under relevant sections. 

While the entire TDP contingent had blown out of proportion, the remark of our leader, here we see that people are roaming freely with weapons and creating a scare among the people, he said.

 While YSR has brought down the factionism in the state by rolling out irrigation projects, Chandrababu Naidu has been patronizing faction politics by giving protection to rowdy sheeters and people with criminal record thereby encouraging such feuds, he said.
