YSRCP appeals to Jagan to withdraw fast
Hyderabad, Aug 30, 2013: YSR Congress has appealed to the Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to withdraw his indefinite fast as the there are many battles to be fought against the insensitive government in the days to come.
“The Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the Party has met today and resolved to appeal to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to withdraw his fast in the larger interests of the people and appealed to the cadre to restrain from any serious action,” Party Honorary President YS Vijayamma and senior Party leader Konatala Ramakrisha told reporters here on Friday.
As Congress Party has only political considerations, the PAC has drafted an appeal seeking the withdrawal of his fast. His sugar levels are dripping fast and may damage the organs as well. In this backdrop, the PAC took a decision to appeal to the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to withdraw his fast, they said.
“As his health condition was falling drastically, the decision was taken keeping in view the future battles to fight. Last night when Jagan was shifted to Osmania Hospital, we had no information and when we rushed to the spot on hearing the news through media, we were not allowed to meet him.
After dilly-dallying for more than one hour and when our MLAs said that they would sit on dharna, they allowed me and Bharathi to see him. His health was precarious as told by doctors and our meeting last for only 15 minutes with two interruptions.
When I told him to take care of his health, he only said be calm. Think like the Honorary President of the Party and not like a mother. I explained to him that politics are no more dignified and asked him to withdraw the fast as there are future battles to fight,” Vijayamma said.
The resolution adopted by PAC will be sent to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and I will write a letter along with it, if there is permission. We have also moved the court to allow either his wife YS Bharathi or I to accompany him while on fast and the reply is awaited.
The situation is that we have no access to him and cannot communicate. If the permission is accorded I will convey the PAC decision to him and also appeal to the cadre to maintain restrain,” she said.
When the Congress has taken a unilateral decision to bifurcate the state, Jagan was very much pained and wanted to undertake fast, but I took the responsibility as his fasting in jail would lead to some other complications.
On the fifth day of my fast, police foiled my deeksha in a very high handed manner at Guntur and when Jagan spoke to me from the jail land line, I repeatedly told him that I will give up fast only if he assures me that he will not take up indefinite fast. He did not give a direct reply but said the allotted five minute time by the authorities is coming to a close.
Next we hear that Jagan has started deeksha from 6.00 am in the jail and all interviews were shut down till he was shifted to hospital on health grounds, she said.
From the Plenary at Idupulapaya to the All Party Meeting at Delhi, our stand has been clear. We want equal justice to both the regions. But the ruling Congress has taken a unilateral decision and the state is reeling under strife and protests.
Our Party MLAs, Honorary President YS Vijayamma, Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy have quit protesting against the Congress decision of dividing the state without bringing a consensus between the two sides, but it was of no use.
The next step is to undertake the indefinite fast, Konatala Ramakrishna said adding that we hope YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will withdraw his fast as he has to lead the Party in many struggles that are to come.
