Hyderabad, Oct 2, 2012: YSR Congress leaders paid rich tributes to the ‘Father of the Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi on his Jayanti today.

At a function at the party central office here, MP Mekapati Rajamohana Reddy offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and recalled his teachings. Asking people to follow the Gandhian path, Mekapati decried the tendency on part of the political parties to give a go-by to the Gandhian principles.

“Some leaders claim to have inherited the Gandhian legacy but they are in practice behaving quite contrary to the Gandhian principles,” he said, adding that the country would develop multifold if everyone follows the Gandhian principles.

Observing that even people in other countries are also following the Gandhian principles, he said world peace could be a reality if all countries follow Mahatma Gandhi.

Party leaders Janak Prasad, Party women’s wing president K.Nirmala Kumari and party youth wing President P. Pratap Reddy and scores of party activists participated in the programme.

Naidu has no credibility

Slamming TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu on his Padayatra, Mekapati said the TDP chief has lost his credibility and his Padayatra would not serve any purpose at this juncture.

Asked to comment on his party’s reaction on the statement of Trinamool Congress Chief Mamatha Banarjee that she would move a no-confidence motion against the UPA Government at the Centre, Rajamohana Reddy said the party will discuss the issue and take a decision when the no-confidence motion is introduced.
