YSR changed the destiny of AP: Sharmila

Visakhapatnam, July 9, 2013: Asserting that the word ‘YSR’ had changed the destiny of Andhra Pradesh, Smt. Y.S Sharmila said the very word had become a savior for the farmers in the state.

Addressing a mammoth public meeting at Kothavalasa after leading her Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra into Vizianagaram district Monday evening, she said the one word ‘YSR’ redefined the real purpose of politics besides setting a precedent on how a leader should work for the sake of people. In the process, it became a role model for the future generation of politicians, she said.

Dwelling at length on the welfare schemes introduced by YSR, she said the YSR regime had extended a helping hand to the poor and the downtrodden. “Fee reimbursement scheme became a boon for the poor students. And those who could not afford to go to corporate hospitals found a panacea in the Arogya Sri Scheme,” she observed.

Smt. Sharmila said the YSR regime had attained a permanent place in the history of the state as golden period besides taking the Telugu pride and honour to greater heights in the country.

“YSR is the only CM who ruled the state treating both welfare and development as his two eyes,” she observed. “In fact, YSR started treating patients free of cost soon after completing his medical education and entered into politics with a service motto.”
