Y.S Bharati seeks PM's intervention

Hyderabad, May 20, 2013: YSRCP chief Sri Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s wife Smt. Y.S. Bharati wrote to PM Dr. Manmohan Singh saying the CBI investigation into her husband’s case has gone astray and sought his intervention to do justice.

Dashing off a letter to Dr Singh on Sunday, she said the CBI probe has not been proceeding according to rules as the agency has targeted only Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy in its investigation. Pointing out that the CBI, which has become a puppet in the hands of the Centre, has been conspiring to keep him in jail till the next elections, she said this is all being done with purely political motives.

Smt. Bharati said in her letter that cases have been foisted on her husband after he left the Congress party. He has been kept under judicial custody for the last one year after being arrested on May 27 last and the CBI has been intentionally delaying the probe, she observed.

CBI, which sought 3 months’ time in October last to complete the probe, has sought 4 more months when the bail petition came up for hearing in the Supreme Court in May after 8 months, she said and recalled: “But within minutes of the SC orders on the matter, CBI Counsel Ashok Bhan came out and indicated they would seek more time as the probe might not be completed in four months.”

Telling the PM that CBI was not in a mood to complete the probe going by his statement, she requested the PM to intervene in the matter immediately. “I request you to intervene and do justice in this case so that the country will remember you as a leader who stands for rights of its subjects. You should not be branded as leader who kept silent while injustice has been done to the family of YSR who served the nation and the Congress for more than 30 years.” she told the PM in the letter.

Smt. Y.S. Bharati said that though her husband didn’t hold any public office during the period 2004-09, cases were registered against him after he left the Congress and 15 months after the death of YSR, based on a letter written by Congress leader Sankara Rao who was later rewarded with a Cabinet berth.

Leaving ministers and others, she said, Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy’s name has been brought to the number 1 position though he was first listed as accused no 52. “While the Government gave the accused ministers a clean chit and decided to bear their legal expenses, Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy has been kept in the jail and is denied bail on the pretext he would influence witnesses,” she said

Reiterating that the CBI joint director (JD) has been intentionally delaying the probe, Smt. Bharati also informed the PM that the JD has selectively leaked probe details to a section of the media with a view to denigrate the image of her husband and the political party led by him. “We have already complained about this and also submitted a list of 500 calls made by him to the media people. Who gave them the right to damage the reputation of my husband?’

Denying the allegation that investments into the Sakshi daily were illegal, she asked the PM how her husband, who was a private person, could be subjected to this harassment when people like Robert Vadhra and Dimple Yadav were allowed to go scot free.

Arguing that that her children have the right to be brought up under by their father Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy and the family has to lead a peaceful life, she requested the PM to intervene immediately and do justice in the matter.

Writes to CBI Director

Smt. Bharati has also written to the CBI director Ranjit Sinha seeking a probe into the statement of its counsel Ashok Bhan that, after four months, it would seek more time to complete probe into the case.

“You must find out who authorized Ashok Bhan to make such statement soon after coming out of the Supreme Court?” she told the CBI official in her letter.
