Vijayamma leads state wide protests
Hyderabad, Jan 9, 2013: In continuation of its fight against anti-people policies of the state Government, YSR Congress party staged Dharnas in front of the sub stations of the electricity department across the state protesting against the proposed power tariff hike on Wednesday.
Despite the peaceful Dharnas staged by the party activists, police had resorted to arrest of scores of YSRCP leaders and workers at several towns and cities including Hyderabad.
Vijayamma leads Dharna at Kurnool
While the party honourary president Smt. Y. S. Vijayamma has led the Dharna at the office of Transco Superintending Engineer at Bellary Chaurasta in Kurnool town, party leaders HA Rehmnan and Challa Madhusudana Reddy and other leaders protested at the TRANSCO and GENCO head office Vidyut Soudha in Hyderabad.
Reports reaching from various districts said YSR Congress activists laid siege to the office of the TRANSO officials in several districts and raised slogans denouncing the proposed power tariff hike.
Under the aegis of the party, farmers too joined the protests and staged dharnas at Prattipadu substation in East Godavari district and Varadayapalem substation in Chittor district.
Decrying the Government’s move to hike the power charges, YSR Congress activists and leaders staged Dharnas at Substations at Allagadda in Kurnool district, Venkatagiri and Gudur in Nellore district, Nandigama in Krishna District, Ponnur in Guntur district, Dubbaka in Medak district, Siricilla in Karimnagar district and at Perkit in Armur Mandalam of Nizamabad district and also across Mahabubnagar district.
